Gateway to the Wild
On a gentle bend of the Flathead River, at the foot of Columbia and Teakettle Mountains, surrounded by 2.3 million acres of Flathead National Forest wilderness, and on the doorstep of Glacier National Park, this is truly the Gateway to the Wild. We are working to preserve this connection to the natural world around us, to highlight our position as the portal to outdoor recreation, and to build the economic culture around the idea of an active lifestyle.
Our Gateway projects, from restoring the Historic Red Bridge as a bike and pedestrian crossing over the Flathead River, to expanding the pedestrian trail system in and around Columbia Falls, to working to showcase the Flathead Valley as a year-round destination point for active-lifestyle visitors, all seek to connect ourselves to the outdoors and preserve the incredible place we have here for future generations.
