Columbia Falls Community Garden
The Columbia Falls Community Garden provides a shared garden space that seeks to promote a healthy, unified community through educational opportunities. Located at River’s Edge Park, the garden is open to plot renters and volunteers from early April through mid October.
Your support is what makes First Best Place projects happen. The Columbia Falls Community Garden relies on contributions from the community to operate. You can make a donation now with your credit card or PayPal account.
The Columbia Falls Community Garden provides fresh produce to the food bank, plots to gardeners in the community, and volunteer opportunities to anyone wanting to get more involved. You can help the community garden provide these services by purchasing a CSA vegetable share for the 2012 season. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Shares consist of a weekly box of organically grown vegetables, which you pick up at a set location and time every week from mid-June through mid-October.
Full shares are available for $400 and will be packaged in one box for the pick up. You are welcome to split up the cost and contents of the share any way you want with whomever you want, as long as you pick up one box and manage the division yourself–this saves us time and packaging materials, and we pass the savings on to you. To reserve a full share, e-mail lindsay@firstbestplace.org or call 892-1363 and send in your $50 deposit to our address below by November 30th. The deposit will be subtracted from your total balance owed. Shares should be paid for in full by February 1, 2012, but you are welcome to pay before that date.
Half shares are available for $225 and will be packaged in one box for pick up; the composition of a half-share is simply half of what a full share would get. The trade-off with a half share is that you are paying more than half the cost of a full share to cover our expenses related to dividing and packaging the shares; the benefit is that you don’t have to worry about coordinating with someone else to divide the share. To reserve a half share, e-mail lindsay@firstbestplace.org or call 892-1363 and send in your $25 deposit to our address below by November 30th. The deposit will be subtracted from your total balance owed. Shares should be paid for in full by February 1, 2012, but you are welcome to pay before that date.
Payment: Checks should be made out to First Best Place and can be sent to PO Box 2244 / Columbia Falls, MT 59912, or you may drop them off at Glacier Discovery Square between 10am-6pm M-F. Deposits made after the shares have been filled will be refunded. Please contact us to check the availability of shares.

Community garden plots – open to members of the community to rent on a seasonal basis. The plots are open beds measuring 12′x12′, which is large enough to grow food for a small household
CSA shares – CSA stands for community supported agriculture, which is when a community member pays for a share of vegetables before the growing season begins, and he or she picks up fresh veggies as they are available throughout the season. 2012 CSA shares are $400 each.
Food Bank donations - every week we harvest fresh veggies for our local food bank. During the 2011 growing season, we donated over 400 lbs of fresh produce to the food bank.
